4 out of 5 stars Hori Stick Personal Review   September 3, 2010
Jose Luis Meza
This controller does everything it claims, the buttons feel crisp and response is immediate. Something to note is that it will only work with PS3 titles and not with a PS2 or PS1. Fine by me. Online there are videos and people who show ways to trick this controller out otherwise its fine by itself. Perfect for fighting games or side-scrolling shoot 'em ups.

5 out of 5 stars Great stick to start with!   June 5, 2010

I am a long time fighting game fan, and had been considering getting a Fight stick for quite some time now. I was hesitant because of varying prices and not know much about fight sticks, so I was worried to make an investment in a product I would potentially not like.

I have been using the Hori Fight stick 3 for about one month know and I can say it certainly helps alot when playing fighting games, specifically Street Fighter. The stick is very responsive and the buttons are easy to push and reach. This stick is the traditional Japanese layout, using a Square gate and buttons in the arc pattern. I originally was thinking that I wanted to mod the gate, but I have actually grown to like to square gate alot.

For anyone considering trying a Fight stick I think this is your best bet. It is high performance and very affordable. The only real upgrade I can think of would be the Mad Catz TE Stick, but the price difference is huge.

I highly recommend this to anyone looking to try a Fight Stick.

3 out of 5 stars Good beginners stick but not easy to modify.   April 10, 2010

This stick exceeded my expectations for the price, but it was made by Hori after all so I was still expecting something decent. Some people will prefer the size of the stick, and some people will wish for something larger. This is considered a small stick but I found it very comfortable to use.

Many people prefer to modify their sticks and put on new art, buttons and joysticks. This will require a lot more effort than some people may be prepared for. First the buttons can't simply be swapped out, you have to desolder them off the board first and that will already be more than some can handle. The art on this board can be ripped off and you can either paint the stainless steel plate or get something printed to stick on. The joystick can't be changed without A LOT of work. Most people who have swapped the joystick don't believe it's worth the effort, but it can be done if you must have all arcade parts.

If you plan to use the joystick stock, I personally found it hefty enough as it is since the top and bottom plates are stainless steel. Additional weight can also be added easily by removing the bottom plate, revealing two hollow cylinders you can stuff with coins, fish weights, etc. The buttons and joystick can do the job but will probably leave something to be desired if you are an advanced player or playing very competitively.

All in all, not a bad place to start if you plan to use it as is, and a cheap way to get started and still be able to put in arcade parts if you have the patience and skills.

it's not exactly arcade quality, buttons are a little sloppy, but it's good enough for me!

The stick is well built and the buttons feel responsive. For the price I got it for there's no complaints.
